The Grolier codex, a Mayan document of the thirteenth century that until now had been considered a forgery, is authentic. The document was discovered in 1965 by looters in a cave in Chiapas, Mexico. This detail has made for four decades, have doubted its authenticity, but the research of a team from Brown University, in the US, ensures that it is not only authentic but also the oldest of all the preserved manuscripts of ancient America. The researchers have published the results of the study in the Mayan Archeology journal.
